Who are the Houston Rockets?

The Houston Rockets are Houston, Texas’ professional basketball team. However, they were not always the local Houstonians we know them as today.

The team was originally founded in California as the San Diego Rockets in 1967, but moved to the great city of Houston four years later, becoming the original NBA team in Texas. The Rockets are part of the Southwestern division of the Western Conference of the NBA. Some luminary players have played on the great Rockets team, including Hakeem Olajuwon and Yao Ming, who just recently announced his retirement. With the help of a few of these game-winning stars, the Rockets have brought home four conference titles and an equal number of division titles. The team relocated to Toyota Center in 2003, which has been their permanent Rocket Red, White, and Silver residence ever since. Currently led by Coach Kevin McHale, the Rockets are ready to show the world their rocket-like speed, endurance, and pure talent out on the court.
